BLOWN IT YET AGAIN

I can never open my mouth
unless I put my foot in it.
I never get the rules right
I overstep the limit.
My timing is atrocious
I always get it wrong;
the sentences are far too short,
the pauses………much too long

And I guess I’ve gone and blown it yet again

Been up that creek too many times;
But never had a paddle.
My horse has passed the winning post;
but with an empty saddle.
I’ve run up my colours up the mast;
been hoisted by my own petard.
I never knew being smooth
could be so …. bloody hard

And I guess I’ve gone and blown it yet again

I never read the signals right
I end up stuck on red.
Most of what I want to say
just stalls inside my head.
The little words that manage
to make their Great Escape;
get rounded up the next day
And get marched back through the gates!

And I guess I’ve gone and blown it yet again

Well, I thought Carpe Diem meant
That God likes little fish
Well he threw me back in the deep end
And I’m lost at sea on this,
I ran out the cannons
I covered the decks with sand
And at the first broadside
I just sank,…. with all hands

And I guess I’ve gone and blown it yet again
BLOWN IT YET AGAIN
