GREENHOUSES - LIMITED EDITION HAND COLOURED ETCHINGS (1987-93)
The lush splendour of the greenhouses at Kew and Wisley
These Greenhouse etchings were a series of hand coloured editions that I did in the late 1980’s whilst living in London, teaching at Working Men’s College and exhibiting with Damon Bell. Unfortunately the editions are now all sold out.
KEW Palm House:
Built 1844-48 by Richard Turner to Decimus Burton's designs, the Grade 1 listed Palm House is Kew's most recognisable building. It has gained iconic status as the world's most important surviving Victorian glass and iron structure.
KEW Waterlily House:
Sited just by the Palm House, this is another of Kew's classic listed buildings, again with ironwork by Richard Turner. Built in 1852, it was then the widest single span glasshouse in the world, designed specifically to house the huge attraction of the age, the giant Amazonian waterlily. Sadly, the huge plant never did well and in 1866, the house was converted into an Economic Plant House for medicinal and culinary plants.
WISLEY
Established in 1804, the Royal Horticultural Society is now the UK's leading gardening charity, dedicated to advancing horticulture and promoting good gardening.

A list of art materials suppliers - where to buy the cheapest canvas, paints and brushes
Etching is one of the oldest and most satisfying forms of printmaking and in the hands of a expert can deliver intricacies of line and tone unrivalled by any other printing process.
Etchings are the prints produced by etching an image on a copper or zinc plate, using acid, filling the textures of the image with ink and then printing it on to paper by running it through a heavy press.
