Bronze

Bronze is - I’ll be honest - my least favourite metal to work with. It is incredibly hard, which means that bending it into a ring or trying to create scrolls with it can be a very painful experience.

That said, it does have a special something once it has been persuaded to do what you want it to. It’s warm glow sets off semi-precious gem stones wonderfully, and no matter what you do with it, it seems to resonate ancient Rome. It is worth perservering with because it is such a strong and characterful metal.

An alloy of copper and tin, bronze is more expensive than you may think to procure, and therefore is quite a rare component of hand made art jewellery.
