ANCIENT CRAFT - MODERN DESIGN IN SILVER AND COPPER

I have been making jewellery consistently for five years. Influences are wide ranging, from Sir Alfred Gilbert (who created Eros in Piccadilly Circus) to contemporary American artists such as Eni Oken. I favour techniques which have been around for thousands of years - jewellery and ornamentation has always been important to humans and some of the techniques I use to create Metal Fairy jewellery were used by the ancient Egyptians.

I also find it interesting to try to incorporate other art forms in Metal Fairy jewellery - so some of the pieces have crochet wire frames, or consist of hair thin silver wire which I have threaded with pearls and then knitted or crochet into a necklace.

Most of all it is the element of desire that is important to me. The finished item of Metal Fairy jewellery has to make me WANT to hold it, wear it, show it off. If I am unmoved by it when I have finished a piece, I take it apart and recycle.
